Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kanazawa

The reason why I went to Tokyo this time was to see my time honored friend from Canada for the first time in 7 years and his wife in 19 years and their two daughters totally for the first time.
Anyway after having a good and crazy time in Tokyo, I took a Johestsu Shinkansen from Tokyo station to Echigoyuzawa where I changed it to Hakutaka express train. It took exactly 4 hours from Tokyo to Kanazawa and it cost 12,710 yen.
I personally prefer the train to the overnight bus.

  • I was in Tokyo in 1991, and took the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto. Very fast and easy. I don’t remember how long it took, but I remember getting a bit sea-sick when looking out the windows while we were still close to Tokyo. All the wooden fences were very close to the track, and they became a blur at high speed!

Thank you for your comment and sorry for the late reply.
Shinkansen has been making another progress since 1991.
Please come back again and experience it!
