Anybody know the name of this flower?

I forgot the name of this flower!

My friend Mr. Li left this flower to me last summer when he decided to move to China.

Since then I have kept watering it and it blossoms like this now.

What’s the name of this flower?

Dinner at Ryokan – must do

I strongly recommend that you foreigners should have a dinner at a cuisine Ryokan at least one time during your Japan trip.

“We could not have all these Japanese foods without coming to Ryokan”–

This is what this European couple who have been traveling in Japan for almost 3 weeks said and I totally agree with it.

Dinner at Ryokan has almost all kinds of Japanese way of cooking foods. You can hardly have such an all in one dinner outside Ryokan without going to very expensive fancy restaurants!

Enjoy your dinner at your own room!

It is a baigai (little water snail) from the sea here.

Just taste it! It will be for sure your good memory of Japan!

Valentine’s Day in Japan

On Valentine’s Day, Japanese women are encouraged to express love to men by giving chocolate and other gifts on February 14th.

Chocolate given to men whom women don’t feel special love are called “giri (obligation)-choco (chocolate)” in Japanese. Chocolate given to co-workers and bosses are usually considered as giri-choco. Many men feel embarrassed if they don’t receive any chocolate on Valentine’s Day. Women usually make sure to give giri-choco to men around them so that they don’t feel left out. The average price range for a giri-choco is from 200 yen to 500 yen each.

Chocolate given to a special man from a woman is called “honmei (prospective winner)-choco.” Honmei-choco is more expensive than giri-choco and is sometimes homemade. It’s lucky if a man could receive a honmei-choco.
